Stockholm by day and by night.
Publicerad 2010-09-05 kl: 20:43. Kategori: ÖvrigtAt last internet again! 3 days in Stockholm at an Hotel that had ”server” problems! I really must get an iphone and soon. Great weekend however.
Friday and golf at Bro Bålsta with ”Snäckan” and Micke L. A windy, rainy, grey day with thick rough big uneven greens and a dodgy pitching wedge! Despite these problems it was an enjoyable 18 holes and my 3 pars and a bogey finish was just enough to take the spoils.
After the golf a quick shower 2 pints and the worst hamburger for years at the Bishops Arms and i was off to Råsunda to watch the ”new” Sweden play Hungary in a European Qualifier. Eric K had sorted me out a couple of great tickets in the VIP area. Row 2 a little bit right of the half way line 2nd tier. Zlatan was in a class of his own for the first 45 mins and the only thing missing was a clinical finish. I like the new generation they all play with confidence and will only get better as the group qualifiers go on. Wernbloom is the new Clabbe Ingesson, Bajrami can be a new Limpar and even Toivonen, Larsson and Lustig have the qualities needed at this level. My only question is why on earth is Elmander playing wide right? He is a hard working forward who needs to chase long balls and put the opposition under pressure. He hasn´t the skills required to play as a ”winger”. Sebastian Larsson is a well schooled (Arsenal) wide man and should be given the chance to stake his claim. All in all 2-0 is a a great start to their campaign.
After the match Snäckan and myself made our way to town. Hotel Anglais was our choice and a few pints dissappeared whilst analysing the match. Peter H made a guest appearance a bit later and showed us pictures of his new BMW X6. Nice to know things are going well for some. Around midnight we moved along to Sturehöf before Snäckan took a taxi home. I went for a night cap at Bishops Arms and met up with some footballing legends. Ralf E, Glenn H, Mattias S, Stefan A and Jonas W. You can make your own conclusions as to which of these are ”legends”. See photo below!
Saturday started with a lay in. Brunch at 11. Egg and bacon and everything else i shouldn´t be eating. A long walk to the Castle and back. Then time for a drink with Janne 2 flavours. Once again Bishops Arms was the destination. (no hamburger) An enjoyable afternoon where plans were made for the near and distant future and we both agreed that Starobrno is not a bad alternative to Staropramen.
PK´s Bergkvara AIF recovered well from their defeat against TV Allstars and beat Gullaboås 2-1 and moved ever closer to becoming league champions.
I dont often read the newspapers but when staying at a hotel i scan through the sports pages. I sat reading the ”Svenskadagbladet” on saturday and Anders Lindblads match report of the Sweden – Hungary game. I sometimes wonder if journalists actually watch the games they report on. His personal opinion of the game i have no problem with but when he wrote that Wernbloom scored his second headed goal from a Kallström corner then you have to start wondering!!
I drove back sunday lunch in my ”loaned” Mitsubishi Outlander and must admit i was impressed. Who knows it could be something for Lansdowne.se.
Max Grinndal is definately ”Kanon o Kalkon” king.
2nd row VIP seats.
Footballing legends.
